Feasibility of Osseous Landmarks for ACL Reconstruction—A Macroscopic Anatomical Study

During knee arthroscopy, easy orientation is important, and possible landmarks include the lateral intercondylar ridge (LIR) bifurcate (LBR). The objective was to show feasibility of LIR LBR as femoral attachment anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) among subjects with different levels training. Thirty-six formalin-phenol-fixed lower extremities were acquired for this prospective macroscopic anatomical study. All soft tissue apart from ligaments removed. two bundles ACL their origins identified, marked photographed. Photographs taken in an arthroscopic setting. An orthopedic surgeon, anatomist a medical student identified ridges. existed 80.6% samples, while 13.8% samples. A significant difference between raters correctly identifying (p < 0.01). Due its high frequency, seems more reliable than LBR, especially has potential false positive identification. Nevertheless, these ridges are not easily discernible, surgeon know anatomy notch perfectly stand even small chance placing drill holes reconstruction.
